patience made | new journals

i have a couple new items in the shop to share with you! my personal favouite is the minty green "it's hip to be square" on the black journal. speaking of journals, i usually switch it up between moleskine pocket journals and ones that i've bound myself. but we just got these great new "miro" journals in at work and they are basically just like moleskine! they even have dot grid pages available!

creator | whimsy whimsical

in line with my recent obsession with drawing/illustration, today i wanted to feature whimsy whimsical.  from kuala lumpur, this artist creates prints and cards so charming you can't help but go "awwww!" i love to look at the little repetitive lines that make up each woodland character - and imagine just how long they took to create...

art | jenny brown

yesterday i was followed on twitter and pinterest by an artist named jenny brown. out of curiosity i clicked into her profile and website and discovered the most beautiful artwork. jenny brown creates unique growths on pastel paper using collage pieces, ink, pencil and gouache paint. her images have an organic quality and present somewhat abstracted versions of flora and sea creatures.
i am in love.

new flowering pod. ink, found collage paper. 8.5x11.

flowering pomegranate. ink, gouache, pencil, found collage paper. 8x11.

pink growth. ink, gouache, collage, pencil & paper. 8.5x11.

sea curiosity # 10. ink, found, collage & paper. 6x8.

creators | spaces

within the next twelve months i hope to own a house. and that's all well and good but what i am excited about most is a studio or craft room. right now, we have a condo which has a small bedroom, an office/den and a walk in closet. i mention these because they are the most obvious storage spaces and i'm not going to be putting my supplies in the bathroom anytime soon. but i've (generously!) given up the office to my husband and all of his (many!) possessions. which leaves me with the walk-in closet. now don't get me wrong - i love it! but it's not enough for all of the arts and crafts i have expanded into + my business stationery products. i want a whole room! is that greedy? i want white, and shelves and drawers and space!!

all of the below images are from etsy featured sellers. i love all of these spaces! (the last two are my favourite). which do you like? do you already have your own craft room?

patience made | rubber stamps!

i'm obsessed with stamps. and for awhile now i've been wanting to create my own. but as i speculated in this post, i cannot draw! luckily, i love text, words and typography. so i've designed these stamps with some of my favourite sayings. and honestly of everything i've ever had in my stationery shop - these rubber stamps may be my favourite!

they are loosely grouped in "retro sayings," "exclamatory remarks" and "obvious statements."

shenanigans!

snail mail | twice inspired

this week my mail was inspired by two things. the first is the regional assembly of text. something about typing on a typewriter makes me feel quirky, chatty and old fashioned. the other thing that inspired me was this beautiful floral washi tape! isn't it stunning?? if i was my friends i would be thrilled to receive a letter this pretty!

sorry - that's not very modest is it?

musings | eight years

eight years ago today i started dating my husband. sort of...kind of. well to be honest we had had variations of dates before, all of which pretty much ended with me crying. what can i say? it just wasn't meant to be at the time! that's always what he says anyways. i say i would have been more than happy to start dating him when i was seventeen rather than nineteen. but he insists we both had a lot more growing up to do.

it's funny that i'm recalling that right now because the other day i was thinking about how people change while in a relationship. and as i wondered how things like family, money, houses and children would change us over the years i selfishly thought "i hope my husband doesn't change too much - he's so great!" i think there is a part of me that worries if my partner changes too much...i won't like him anymore!

but today i realized that he has already changed SO much in the past eight years! and in fact he is an even better person. he's more caring, more motivated, and even better looking. in fact it needs to be said that i'm a bit jealous!

so here is to you my husband: to eight wonderful years together and all of the changes they have brought. and to many many more.
