sunday sins | the end

michelangelo's original sin via

last fall i began a project called "sunday sins." the goal was to give up twenty-six vices for two weeks each. it seemed fortuitous that i begin this challenge on my twenty-sixth birthday and thus the game would fit perfectly into one year. but as summer comes to a close i find that i'm not overly interested in shedding my remaining vices - tv, facebook, email, internet etc. one might argue that these are the most important. but what can i say? i'm weak!

although it wasn't official or intentional, i did complete one on the list that i thought would be impossible. for the last two weeks i have not worn make up. i think i put mascara on just twice - and only because i was to encounter large groups of people. it started because i was (am...) sick, with my skin easily aggravated - and didn't want to risk making it worse. i didn't love it...but i didn't hate it either. it was difficult...but things like this are easier when you have no choice.

and with that, i think i will sign off on the sinful sunday project. i've said it before but i'll say it again - it was a great challenge, and what it brought forth most in me was a sense of awareness. if you would like to see all my sins, click here.

  1. i'm so proud of you darling - you did more in this year than most people are willing to dare... curious, did any of your vices stay gone? i know that wasn't the point, i was just wondering if you found yourself or life better enough in one or some of the cases to make real change? xo!

  2. no, i don't think any of my vices stayed gone but i learnt a lot about awareness and moderation. i think i always knew that if i gave up diet pepsi, or chocolate for two weeks...that i wasn't going to be able to give it up for the rest of my life. but i've learnt that i don't HAVE to have these things - that i'm not going to die if i don't have dessert, or if i have to take the stairs instead of the elevator. that i can absolutely, one hundred percent, live without make up or microwaves...even if it's not the funnest or easiest way to go about life!
